Three days before prom, I "wasn't feeling" the prom dress I had been working on and decided to start over with something completely new! It was so much work as I had a science final still to write on monday (prom was tuesday) but I am so glad I did! This dress felt like me. Fashion can be such an emotional journey - I couldn't wear something to prom that didn't make me feel amazing.

Prom is in three hours...

Whimsical, delicate, soft colours and a playful silhouette, a graduation dress for my youngest sister.

Repeating spiral shapes and tulle symbolize kisses blown to heaven to reach a most missed sister. This piece represents a childhood memory of blowing kisses to my littlest sister in heaven, spiralling up into the clouds.
An unconventional approach of hand-dyed coffee filters cut into spirals and attached at the base of tulle “clouds”. The delicateness of the paper feels precious and fleeting. Custom, blended watercolours mimic the sunset sky with a personal connection.

Intense contrasting color and texture depicts the youthful chaos amongst sisters. Fabric pattern texture and color is placed haphazardly to express tangled sisterly relationships and abstract thought.

The contrast of leather and lace exist in harmony symbolizing the contrast of strength and fragility, which can co-exist together. Inspired by feathers with their soft airy structure, contrast with the strong durability of leather, the decorative embellishments feel intentional while unified by colour.
