Three Sisters
Three Sisters

Contrasting differences between myself and my sisters represented by colour. Separate yet connected. Each colour is draped in a way that references our unique personalities. One more hidden, one starkly across the chest, another in big bursts.

Womanhood

Sharp edges in the design represent the journey to womanhood. It can be a sad and scary transition, a rite of passage so to speak with no going back to childhood.

Sasha

A custom dress for a milestone graduation (Grade 8) for one of my sisters. She is elegant, sparkly and dramatic, like the dress.

Dichotomy
Dichotomy

A frilly and fun shape joins together with a serious colour to illustrate that different emotions can happen simultaneously. Logic and vulnerability. Competence along with whimsy. The raw serging edge represents the willingness to put yourself out there.

Whimsical and free, this piece is meant to represent a feeling of childhood nostalgia with little sisters, comfort and innocence.

Fashion Technology Challenge
Fashion Technology Challenge

Bronze Medal in Fashion Technology. Sask Skills Competition 2023.

Candidates had 7 hours to complete the challenge: create a pattern from the provided block and construct an unlined jacket.

Fabric was provided, no embellishments were allowed, and competitors MUST NOT alter the following mandatory components of the jacket block: sleeve cap, armhole shape, collar and lapel, neckline, shoulder length, center front panel piece including zipper closure, the length of the jacket must be finished between the waistline and hip line as indicated on the jacket block pattern

(Projects that didn't include all the mandatory requirements will be marked as incomplete.)

Note from Raina: this was an amazing opportunity and learning experience but solidified that my future aspirations should NOT be fashion technology. Let me dream up, design and sew something amazing! Or at least let me add some creative spark.
